The offices of The Committee are quite sumptuous, which makes the Human Police representative uneasy.
However, humans were not present at their creation and for once the Werewolves agreed with we Old Vampires that there should be some style and élan in our offices.
The offices are panelled in carved wood, which has been stained dark. The carpet is a dark green since no-one cares for a carpet which resembles blood. It would be distracting for all the members.
We have bookshelves which house bound reports of Committee meetings and a few books, such as copies of Dracula.
Apart from the bookshelves the only furniture is a large table with elegant chairs.
The table seats eight and has not yet been full, but that ensures there is enough space between each member of The Committee. It is unusual for a member to bring anyone else to a meeting, but occasionally circumstances do warrant it.
The room and the table are both lit by desk lamps. I suspect it is the darkness of the room which makes the Human Police representative uncomfortable and the rest of us at home. Unlike the rest of us, the Human Police have always refused to spend money on furnishings.
At the front desk there has always been a representative of Old Vampires, New Vampires and Werewolves as we could not decide which of us would staff the front desk when.
In recent years they have been joined by a representative of the Human Police. Not one of the receptionists trusts the others, with the benefit that security is especially tight.
From the outside the offices look like just another building, as the last thing we want to do is to draw attention to ourselves.
