Servants

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

We have never had slaves as it is more practical to have servants.

A slave could try to escape and then we would have been exposed to the mobs when they had their revenge.

Then there would also have been the problem of making them Old Vampires.

If they were made against their will, then that would give them a reason to hate us and make life uncomfortable as only a servant can.

Since the vast majority of humans reading this do not have servants, I will spell it out : an unhappy servant can make your life miserable in a number of ways. They can mislay items you need, forget orders or carry them out badly.

This is why Old Vampires make sure that the servants are happy. If they are happy, then the castle runs itself.

If the castle is not running well and many things are not to your liking then ring for the butler and find out why the servants are unhappy.

It could be that there is one bad apple. Sometimes they have not been able to get their perks and wrongly thought that their employers had something to do with it.

This situation needs a lot of handling, but happens rarely as a butler will lose Status if we employers have to be involved with Servants.

I suspect that among servants, there is more than losing Status for this offence, but that is Servants’ business.

Sometimes after Servants have been turned into Old Vampires they have decided that they do not like it.

We used to kill such ingrates as these without a thought. Nowadays it is not the done thing, so we terminate their employment when it is found out.

I do not know what happens to them, but theorise that they have one of two choices: to throw in their lot with the New Vampires or to walk into the sun.
