Vampire Debutantes

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

Michael, who killed humans, was a Vampire Debutante and not a full Old Vampire. Everyone agrees that his training had been going on for far too long and was not thorough enough.

The result of which is that many Old Vampires and Sires are scrutinising their current practices and Debutantes in detail, as no-one wishes to find their Status has dropped or have a drop in invitations to parties because of association to such a person.

So I have been the recipient of many calls and letters complaining about the scrutiny.

To mollify the Debutantes who contact me I contact their Parent or Sire and ensure that the scrutiny is just.

Most of these are, but some Parents or Sires are panicking over the situation and have to be reassured so they can be less intrusive.

In one case it was found that the Debutante complaining about increased scrutiny was scruffy, foul-mouthed and had drinking practices that would make you squirm. To the delight of his Sire, I recommended increased training.

I have no actual power to make this happen, but people would rather avoid the scrutiny of The King’s Men and so turn to me.

What with this and the previous problems with The Hunters I am getting a reputation of someone whom Old Vampires contact to solve their problems, especially those who are lacking in Status.

While this was not how my position on The Committee started out, I am now in a place which can be most advantageous.

These people are not ungrateful and often give me presents, become allies, or have passed me valuable information in their gratitude.

After all, we Old Vampires do not simply do things out of the kindness of our hearts.
