Killing Humans

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

You may remember that I interviewed one of our Human Killers in order to catch Michael; her Status has probably gone up as a result and I hear she is dining out on the experience.

However, there is always a taint surrounding these people.  She has done something illegal, broken one of the laws that all Old Vampires abide by.

She is not trusted and is only tolerated.  Some tolerate her for her entertainment value or shock value in knowing her.

Some secretly agree with what she did and wish they could emulate her.  I am not one of those.

While drinking the blood of humans and killing them is natural for our kind, breaking laws is unnatural and both Old and New Vampires can only take those who will not be missed.

If they break these laws, then since I am expendable I will be the one tasked with clearing up the mess.

I keep an eye on any lawbreakers : I make sure they know that if they were to be caught breaking a second law there would be no return, no rehabilitation.

Unfortunately any Old Vampire who is already known as a lawbreaker will be extremely careful not to be found out.

Some Human Killers have tried to argue that they are not breaking one of our laws, but one imposed on us by humans and therefore not valid.

They have a point, but if The Ruler sees fit to enforce a law it is one of our laws, no matter who or where it has come from.

My opinion is that if someone has broken one law, they will be tempted break another.

I have never known of anyone breaking our laws a second time.  I, for one, take our laws seriously and uphold them by both literal and figurative means.
