I have not been writing much lately as we have been busy checking out people who may be the killer of important humans.

It is as if people want us to waste our time. I complained to Andy, the Human Police representative who I have to work with about this and he said that it was “par for the course”.

My telephone has never rang so much. The problem is that while Old Vampires do not care about humans dying, we care even less for live humans poking their noses in our business, which is what will happen more and more the longer this goes on. So I get telephone calls.

Meanwhile a third human has been killed. This gives us more information to work on, although Andy spends most of his time being annoyed that he did not predict the victim in time.

I told him that he is only human, a phrase I have heard my human colleagues use many times, but he thought it meant I was better than him and ranted for an hour, after which I thought it prudent to leave the building.

Our relationship is still rather strained and unfortunately explaining would make it worse, not better.

I have taken all the details of the case home, as security at my office is not what I would wish.

This means my servant Jane will know about this (anyone who thinks a servant does not know your business is a fool) but my security is good and Jane can be relied upon to keep a secret.

Anyone breaking into any vampire’s home will have justice meted out to them then and there, which is perfectly legal even for the Human Police. We Old Vampires call this “committing suicide”.

It would be nice to see Jane make a kill. She is being trained by other servants, so I cannot interfere unless I see something.
