It’s a New Year

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

It is the New Year and I am reluctantly back at w.o.r.k. I should be out partying and enjoying myself, instead of which I am sat at this desk moving paper from one side to the other.

I am also manoeuvring with my colleagues to get the best jobs in the office.

This is more difficult than I thought, as humans used to be more easily manoeuvrable and it is two of them against myself.

My human manager favours them, so my arguments have to be very persuasive to get around them.

I did not realise the importance of befriending a manger, as Old Vampires have employees, not friends.

Even if our employees were our friends we would still treat them as employees first. I cannot understand this human touchy-feely way of working.

My other duties also carry on as usual and unfortunately I must continue to give New Vampires blood as well as Old Vampires.

Nosferatu, the New Vampire representative, was supposed to be doing this but is not, so I must carry on with this distasteful task.

I can only assume that our Ruler is getting political mileage out of it. It can be the only reason that I continue to do it, as our remit is to make sure all the Old Vampires in the prison are taken care of.

Sometimes this means subduing them personally as humans do not stand a chance against any vampire.

At times it seems like I do not do anything at work that I enjoy. At times I can see the point of walking into the sun, but I am being paid handsomely to do this job, obviously to keep me doing it.

It is not an easy one, working with humans and now these New Vampires, but I must do what our Ruler tells me.
