Hobbies

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

The New Vampire Representative was telling us all about himself filling up his spare time with hobbies as humans do at the last Committee meeting.

Of course he has hobbies.  I exchanged glances with the Werewolf Representative while the Police Representative was keeping his face carefully blank as he listened to the babbling that went on.

We Old Vampires do not care to ape the humans.  When we do it is only so we can blend in with them, but these things go no further than the sunscreen we put on our skins.

An Old Vampire has no time to have hobbies as we are living as Old Vampires.

This takes up all of our time.  Everything we do supports how we live; anything else is non-consequential and not worth a snap of our fingers.

We spend a lot of time socialising, which nets us information; in turn that provides us with money, power or both.

Only our Ruler holds meetings, the rest of us socialise and decide things over a convivial glass or two.  After all, a lady or gentleman’s word is their bond.

However, our Ruler is a ruler and has a position to maintain.  Many people will want to see her or him.

We also spend time with our finances; keeping up to date with the money markets, our investments and the various ways we can invest.  Each Old Vampire is an expert in money matters, as we need to amass enough to properly live as Old Vampires.

Apart from that, there is the management of your castle, newspapers to read and clubs to go to.

While I currently have little money, I still manage to go to my club and socialise.  I cannot entertain properly as there is little cachet in inviting people around to a semi-detached house while everyone else has a castle.
