Strike Week Three

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

This is the third week of the servants’ strike.  Old Vampires I meet are looking more and more unkempt and their castles dustier and dirtier.

For myself, I only recently became used to having a servant and while going back to being without one is difficult, I and my home can hold my head up with pride.

I am able to hold up my usual standard of dress, although I have had to eschew make-up as mirrors do not reflect us.

We had a Committee meeting last week where Nosferatu dared to make comments about my lack of make-up.  Honestly, that man has little personal grooming and it was easy to soon put him in his place.  The others had more sense and did not comment.

Many Old Vampires are asking me to deal with the strike.  I pass their comments and suggestions on to The Ruler and inform them what I have done.

I am temporarily freed of my Obligation as Adele owns a recruitment bureau which is staffed with Old Vampire servants and she is feeling the lack of servants.

I have often dropped in with styled, clean hair and dress to see how she is faring.

She looks frightful and the office is dirty and unkempt.  She is not able to keep on top of demands, has many complaints and is worried that as a result business is dropping off.

She normally pays her servants extra money to work in the daytime.  I informed her that they were enjoying themselves at her club.  As you would have expected, that did not go down well and had me thrown out of her office.

However, she cannot hire humans.  It is just too difficult to be around them for long periods of time and hide what we are.
