Butlers

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

There are four Old Vampire Butlers who are vying to present the petition to The Ruler.

It seems that Ronald, Aethelric, Walter and Tyler all want the honour of presenting the petition.

Since I am sponsoring this petition I get to lie back, hear their cases out and decide who it’s going to be.

Aethelric is the eldest.  He is much older than me, but has moved slowly and steadily up the ranks, is known as someone who is cautious and careful and has always served his current employers.  He is the only one I know well; I remember when he became a butler.

Walter is several centuries old and in contrast to Aethelric is a risk-taker.  He is American, but most of his brashness has been trained out of him by his employers.

My sources say that he became an Old Vampire while in Britain and tends to move between employers when he gets bored.

Tyler is new to both being a butler and an Old Vampire, being only a century old.  Tyler was his surname which, unlike most Old Vampire butlers, he prefers being addressed by.

You would think he would be a fan of modernity, but my sources say that he wants servants to espouse Victorian values.

Ronald is the modern one.  He was one of the first to communicate with me by telephone.  It is rumoured that he goes to the cinema regularly; the only Old Vampire I know of to do so.

Each of the four will make their case for presenting the petition in a few days.

I wanted a short deadline as each person will have little time to prepare.  The more time they have to prepare the more obfuscating information will appear and the more the truth will be masked.

These Servants are Old Vampires after all.  I will have to pick through the lies carefully to find the truth.
