The Hunters

The threat of The Hunters always looms over us as they are a menace to all Old Vampires.

My desk on The Committee is piled high with rumours and allegations of who they have hit and where they are.

Unless the allegations get too many or I have a direct report of a castle being raided, I ignore them.

Most of them turn out to be no more than smoke.  Rumours spread to distract other Old Vampires, or for political purposes.

I could spend my whole time investigating these, which would be much more profitable than working at a prison, but unfortunately I have a social life and have to work as well as being on The Committee.

In reality, The Hunters raid at least one castle most months.  They terrify and kill the Old Vampire Servants, who I hear are going to petition The Ruler, disappear any Old Vampires who are in the castle and trash it.

I have tried to put a proposal on the table of The Committee so valuable Old Vampire Servants are not harmed during these raids.

I could not argue with the fact that they are still Old Vampires and thus under The Hunters.  They serve their master and mistress who are alleged to have committed a crime and would have knowledge of what went on.

Some Old Vampires seem to be able to move away from their castles before The Hunters strike.  Others are caught napping, sometimes literally.

It all depends on who is whose ally and who is whose enemy.  Thankfully I am immune because of my job on The Committee, although I do have to endure comments about not living in a castle at meetings.

The New Vampire representative, Nosferatu, is full of himself whenever The Hunters are mentioned.

It is obvious that someone put him up to proposing that The Hunters have jurisdiction over Old Vampires.
