The King’s Men

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

Yesterday two of the King’s Men escorted me from the middle of a Committee meeting to speak to the King.

After a long flight I was marched down corridors and made to wait patiently for a long time, which I used to perfect my dress and make sure there were no crumbs or loose threads, I was ushered in to see the King.

He wanted to know about The Hunters.  Much of what he questioned me about and I had to say I am not allowed to repeat in this blog.

I can tell you that he is investigating the matter closely, although such investigations are so thorough they can go on for a long time.

The King’s Men will turn everything upside down, inside out and find out about everything.

I am not looking forward to being investigated myself in the course of matters.  I will spend a lot of time afterwards putting things back where they are supposed to be.

I told him about Samuel.  We have to be open and honest with our King or there can be severe penalties if he finds out we are withholding information or lying to him.

Samuel’s a valuable ally and I hope he brings back some good information, although it may be filtered through the King.

Speaking to the King took two nights.  I felt that he knew everything about me and was thoroughly wrung out after it.

I was treated as an honoured guest during the whole time, with all my needs catered to at the snap of his fingers, which was an unusual and pleasant experience.

I slept at the palace; the King’s Men made my human bosses aware of what was happening so there was no trouble when I came back to work at the prison.
