Classes

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

There are no peasants these days.  Working class, middle class and upper classes are what we now have.

Humans ape us vampires by having humans who are not people, even though they deny it.

The working class is known in Britain as “chavs” or in the United States as “trailer trash”, thus denigrating that class to non-people.

The difference is that we Old Vampires are comfortable in our own skins and with our own actions.  Humans are not.

We don’t bother with the hypocrisy of claiming that New Vampires (or shunned Old Vampires) are people, but call them derogatory names.

As I wrote in my last post it is a shock to find the working class less than subservient.  I have tried to talk about it to other Old Vampires at my club.  They are as insulated by their castles as I used to be, so no-one believes this to be possible

We Old Vampires are familiar with the upper class echelons of human society and those that ape to be so, the “new money”.

We all know that class is bred and can not be bought, but there are always parvenus trying to fit in.

Some of us have known human upper class families on and off for centuries; it is always a surprise to meet someone who looks exactly like one of their forebears and difficult not to call her or him by her or his forbears’ name.

It is the middle class I have difficulty understanding.  It used to be that human society was split into two classes : the upper class, which were their betters and the lower class, who were the peasants and worked.  The middle class are neither.

They have some money, not enough to give up work, but enough to afford some of the niceties of life : neither one thing nor another.
