Loud Humans

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

Humans these days are so loud and vulgar, showing no deference at all to their betters.

Gone is the quietness I found in humans when I had my castle.  It was so restful to talk to a human, who would defer up at you from lowered brow and worried gaze

Worried because she or he was talking to their betters, not because I was a vampire, which they didn’t find out.

It is disgusting that nowadays peasants look me straight in the eyes and talk to me as if I was their equal.  Worse, at work I am talked to as if the humans there could be my superiors.

There were humans who looked me in the eyes when I talked to them when I had my castle, but they owned castles themselves and had money, power and class.

We fraternised with those only when necessary, as we do not like the fact they think they are our equals.

Today, so many humans go past me in the street talking (and even shouting) at me at the tops of their voices.

The behaviour of all humans has changed since I owned my castle, but the worst is that I can walk down the street on a Friday or Saturday evening, bump into a rowdy drunk outside a pub, and have to breathe the same air as her or him.

So I do not go out of my way, as I used to do, to fraternise with humans as what behaviour I have seen has clearly deteriorated past reasonable.

Worst of all are the ones who think they are better than me.  They have no basis for thinking this; whereas I am an Old Vampire.  I have Status.

Nowadays any non-castle owning illiterati will try and make conversation with me.  As if they could hold a candle to me.

At work they know they can’t and hate me for it.  We all know who is really superior in the workplace, and it isn’t the so-called managers.
