Not a Real Vampire

I have just been told that I am “not a real vampire” at a party, in front of everyone there.

After I had finished tearing him apart verbally I challenged The Idiot to a fence as I could not let this level of insult go unchallenged.  The Idiot accepted.

Since The Idiot is an enemy of Adele, I have been able to arrange with her for anything I need for this fence without paying a penny myself.

Normally I would need a lot of money to finance a fence.  Adele tried to get me to pay, but she knows my financial situation as she caused my lack of money by having me enticed into a game of cards.

If she had not done that, I would have had to borrow money or end up Obligated to her, which happened and was why she enticed me into the game in the first place.  The irony is not lost on her and she is spitting nails once more.

It is in her interests to see her enemy humiliated and lose Status, whereas if I lose Status I become less useful as an Obligatee.

If all goes well my Status will increase and so may anyone else’s who is linked with me.

Adele has also arranged for the forgery of a doctor’s certificate for work while I spend time training.

I will be training with Gerhardt, who owes me favours and is temporarily in Britain for reasons unclear to me.

Gerhardt has been a master of fencing for many centuries and even the best Old Vampires solicit his expertise.

He is also acting as my second, which means he will have a clear view of what is going on, as well as the chance to shout insults at my opponents.  This is something which so far has never happened, but the rules do not forbid it.

It should be a lot of fun.  Adele is paying for and arranging the fence, which takes a lot of time to organise, while Gerhardt and I are spending two weeks training.  I can finally relax and enjoy life for the first time in a long while.
