The humans I work with have reminded me of many things, and one of them is the fact that vampires do not dream.

I am glad we do not have dreams; dreams could remind us of what we do not wish to remember about former lives.

Most humans these days think that dreams are to be ignored, which is a mistake as dreams impart a lot of information about what is taking place in the waking world.

I have heard of one woman still living who when going to sleep asked for a dream about her relationship.

She dreamt that she was on The Titanic and she went into her boyfriend’s cabin which had a picture of his wife and children in it.

She shrugged off the dream as nonsense and the next night asked for another dream about her boyfriend.

She dreamed the same dream and the next day confronted her boyfriend about it.  He asked her “how did you know about my wife and children?”

Dreams used to be taken seriously.  God could communicate with humans via dreams; humans can have what are now called “solution dreams” in which they dream a solution to a problem.

My theory is that only those who have souls dream; that the dream-state is communication between the soul and the body it inhabits.

We vampires don’t need dreams when we can get so much knowledge through the drinking of blood.  As we drink we sift through memories for anything that may be useful to us.

This method is useful with humans and New Vampires, but it is illegal to use it on Old Vampires.

This is beneficial as without it we would not learn to use our wits, machinations and subtlety to gain information from other Old Vampires and thus learn some of the mechanisms necessary to survive as a vampire.
