Information from Columbine, my New Vampire Contact

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION **

I have been getting a lot of information for news from my New Vampire informant in prison, sometimes without even having to ask.

New Vampires are very different to us.  Unlike us they interfere when humans are doing untoward things, causing problems for the Human Police, their representative on The Committee and possibly also landing them in prison.

They do things “if they feel like it” which strangely enough, include working and paying rent.

Old Vampire Servants turn up for work unless they have a stake through their heart.

These New Vampires telephone in sick whenever and wherever they feel like it.

If it was a New Vampire who I employed and she or he didn’t go into work, my butler would have had his teeth around its throat in a heartbeat, demanding to know why it wasn’t at work.

If New Vampires work, they have jobs they can do anywhere in the country, so they can move if they wish.

Apparently a top job for a New Vampire is as a nurse.  From working with humans I know that New Vampires could be doctors, but apparently it’s more difficult for them to move around and change name.

New Vampires also may or may not turn up for court as they are notoriously unreliable.  Bail is never given to a New Vampire as the rate of absconding is too high, whereas bail is always given to an Old Vampire, as no matter what she or he has done we will always turn up.

New Vampires tend to live in squats.  Columbine had to explain what a squat was to me.  The untidiness and sheer squalor of what was described to me is horrific.  I will never understand how New Vampires can live like that.
