 Three Down

Three Old Vampires were taken by The Hunters last night.  This time The Hunters turned up unannounced and unwelcome.

The Old Vampire whose three allies had been taken was due to meet them for drinks and raised the alarm via a phone call when they didn’t turn up.

In the past we would have cursed an Old Vampire for not showing up and notified the Status Keeper.  In this current climate a no-show is cause for concern, but we still notify the Status Keeper.

The ally went to their castle to look for them, saw the devastation inside their castle and alerted me.

He was correct not to take it any further as The Hunters could still have been inside.  My seat on The Council offers me protection : others are not so fortunate.

So I went to the castle.  At my age, which I only ever admit to being 500 years old, all the Vampire Servants know me.

Some of them had fled to a safe distance and came back when they saw me, as they know I am protected.

They were quite correctly loath to set foot in the castle, so I told them to go to my dwelling and gave them directions and keys to it while I investigated.

I found nothing wrong with the castle itself.  I spent most of the night going through rooms and looking for anything that might be useful to The Hunters and/or to me.

Annoyingly, everything was in place.  Not a single document left out that I could have a look at.

It didn’t look like the hidden safes had been tampered with.  I am not a common criminal so I could not gain access to the contents of their safe.

Of course The Hunters could have taken any documents with them as they left.  Even if I wanted a confrontation with The Hunters there is no way to ascertain this.
