Riots

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

I went to the Trafalgar Square riots against the Poll Tax years ago.  It was exhilarating to find myself swept up with the crowd and carried along.

It was supposed to be a peaceful protest, but I came with the agitators to make trouble.  I loved the chaos and the blood it deteriorated into.

I can see why people join mobs.  The feeling you have of being one part of a whole that moves as one, with everyone agreeing with you.

The feeling you have of power, of being able to do something is heady and invigorating.

The peaceful protests aren’t as much fun :  no blood and no violence.  They’re just a lot of walking and chanting which changes nothing.

It’s the ones that deteriorate into that lovely chaos that are the ones that make things happen.

I’ve seen it in many countries : the leaders turning a blind eye to peaceful protests, knowing that whatever happens they are safe.

It’s when the spectre of violence hovers across their businesses or their friends’ businesses that politicians take note.

They can’t have Jo Public breaking windows and costing them damage, now can they?

When we Old Vampires act, we act for the whole community in Britain, unlike the self-serving politicians you humans have.

If we didn’t the whole community would crumble and riot.  A rioting vampire is not a pretty sight.

We can let ourselves go these days as the cameras will not see us.  All they see are humans falling down.

The ones which are rioting and the police which are trying to contain them are too busy to notice us.

The police will cover up our drinking blood under our agreement, and it’s easier for them to do it during riot conditions.
