Disappearances

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

All these disappearances put me in mind of my husband’s disappearance.

At first, I didn’t mind.  His behaviour had become wearing to everyone and it was a relief to be able to wander the castle without any locked doors getting in the way, or worrying about him.

Then relief gave way to worry and I called the Human police in.  In this age of documentation, it’s easier to involve them than to forge the documents later.

And I was angry when I did it.  Angry with him for disappearing and leaving me to deal with everything, so I thought that if he appeared, then he could make his own way out of this mess.

The Human police were very unhelpful and when they heard of his problems they concluded he’d left of his own accord.

Of course, they didn’t say that to me, but it was writ clearly in their attitude and behaviour.

Then I contacted people in the Old Vampire world and I was surprised when none of them knew anything.

If it had been The Hunters the servants would have known, but they were as surprised and worried as I was.  And these days mobs don’t know about vampires.

I kept trying to find him, but hours passed into days and days passed into weeks without anyone having sight or sound of him.

It still worries me.  Never before has a vampire disappeared so completely, there has always been someone who knows what has happened.

It’s always been possible for a vampire to completely disappear : but that sort of thing simply isn’t done, no matter what disgrace you are in.

Vampires need other vampires : for support, for help if they get into a mess or simply for someone to talk to and bounce ideas off.
