Living Under New Powers

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

I have spent the last two days being deluged by requests from Old Vampires about The Hunters’s new powers.

If have to say “I don’t like it anymore than you do” to anyone else, then I am going to bite someone and to hell with the consequences.

The Hunters are all New Vampires and other New Vampires are already complaining about Old Vampires and those who are caught then disappear.

Thankfully I was able to put the word out about the new powers mere minutes after I left that meeting.

The Old Vampires who know that New Vampire(s) have a grievance against them have already fled, leaving The Hunters a trifle annoyed.

Since The Hunters are New Vampires, they don’t realise that part of being an Old Vampire is having an escape plan that can be put into motion at any time.

This is a legacy of the days when mobs could turn up at your door.  Some of us, like me, have learnt the hard way to have an escape plan.

These days it used to be that having an escape plan was an old habit that we maintained because of the comfort it brought.  Now it has become a necessity again.

The Hunters, to put it mildly, are annoyed that so many have escaped.  Despite moving as soon as the new powers came into existence they have only caught those who have let their escape plans lapse.

Unfortunately this means that they are coming down hard on those few of us who have been caught.

Thankfully I have never had experience of what The Hunters actually do, but one hears whispers.  And rumours.

At the moment, it is a very bad time to be an Old Vampire.  I predict that it will also be a very bad time to be a New Vampire.
