New Powers for the Hunters

*** DISCLAIMER – THIS BLOG IS FICTION AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT LIABLE FOR THE ACTION OF ANYONE WHO PERSISTS IN THINKING IT IS NOT FICTION ***

There has been a disturbing new development of late.  The Hunters have been given powers to investigate crimes committed by any vampire, no matter who the crime has been committed against.

The Human police proposed it, and as this sounded good to the Werewolf and New Vampire Liaison on The Committee to regulate Non-Human Activity, or as everyone calls it, “The Committee” it was voted in.

It sounds good to everyone except me.  This gives The Hunters more powers against Old Vampires.

Before this, The Hunters needed the humans to notify them that it was in their interests to proceed against a vampire.

Now they need only the slightest suspicion to come in and rummage around in our lives.

Obviously, the human Police have been put up to this by The Hunters.  Nosferatu, the New Vampire Liaison, is only 50 years old and is mentally rubbing his hands at the thought that The Hunters can look into Old Vampire lives and possessions.

The fool doesn’t realise that these new powers mean that no vampire is safe from The Hunters.

Trudi, the Werewolf Liaison, realises this but thinks it a great idea as there is no love lost between werewolves and vampires.

Whereas I have lived through many centuries of history in various countries and realise that for now The Hunters will be looking at all vampires.  Next it will be the werewolves’ turn.

The human Police will propose this and Nosferatu will still be fool enough to back this, thinking that it doesn’t matter because they’re werewolves.

This will mean a stalemate and I should be able to wrest some concessions for the Old Vampires in return for changing my vote to “yes”.
