Apart from hunting, we interact with humans as little as possible, leaving that sort of thing to the servants.
If one of us is out hunting and witnesses anything happening between humans we are duty bound to inform the relevant Committee representative as soon as possible, which is myself.
With Old Vampires this means she or he flying to where I am and waking me up, or appearing at the gate of my workplace, as it is difficult to explain their sudden appearance in a prison.
Either one is a nuisance to deal with, as I have to first alert the proper authorities and then fill in a report for the Human Police on The Committee.
If The Hunters could use that report they would, but the Human Police recognise our value and keep Old Vampire witnesses safe as we always turn up to court as witnesses.
This is because we respect the human courts for their structure and the way they keep the human population in line.
What an Old Vampire does not do is interfere if she or he sees anything untoward happening between humans.
They know that if they do I will take that Old Vampire apart, because I will then have to spend a lot of time and effort covering up our existence.
Taking them apart first means telling her or him how foolish an act it was and then writing to the Status Keeper with a report from the Human Police detailing their actions.
Then I let it be known what she or he has done, which will result in ostracision for a while.
The only people who will have anything to do with that Old Vampire are her or his Obligatees, who don’t have a choice in the matter.
We haven’t had an ostracision for a hundred years and that Old Vampire was a fool who was later killed in a fence.
